One minute, clearing enemies feels easy. The next, there are so many of them that a small attack area simply is not enough. Every stage sets a kill target and a time limit, so players have to improve their damage and work out how to handle larger groups. The mouse cursor or gamepad acts as an attack lens, letting players target creatures as they appear. Gold from defeated enemies pays for improvements to attack size, speed, and damage. Extra time is another useful purchase, especially when later stages become harder to clear. These upgrades are not just numbers on a screen. A wider attack can hit several enemies, while faster attacks help deal with monsters before they crowd the area. The interesting part starts with the skill tree. Popslime has a layered upgrade system, and choosing abilities is more involved than buying the cheapest available option. Skills have several attributes to develop, and certain combinations produce large ripple effects across the battlefield. Runes make builds even more varied. Some offer one bonus, while rare and legendary versions can improve several stats or skills at once. Every so often, a Shiny monster shows up. These unusual enemies are worth looking for because their rewards provide persistent buffs rather than something useful for just one fight. Even the helpers need training. The Archer eventually becomes available as a companion. They attack automatically, gain experience from defeated enemies, and unlock perks as they grow. Better firing speed and arrows that reach extra targets make the Archer increasingly helpful. Towers arrive later, adding passive attacks directly to the battlefield. Between fights, ores can be refined into gems. Those gems have their own levels and special effects, including a chance to deal double damage. Treasure chests provide another opportunity to collect a large amount of gold and loot. There is plenty to manage, so do not put every resource into the same upgrade. Build a useful combination of skills, improve the Archer, and collect ores when possible. Popslime keeps adding new ways to grow stronger, giving each cleared stage a purpose beyond simply reaching the next one.
